Welcome to Ditta in Wonderland!
Hello, I’m Caroline Shirine, M.Sc, B.Ed, from India. As a passionate educator and storyteller, I find immense joy in teaching and sharing stories. My journey in education has been deeply fulfilling, and my love for storytelling has only grown stronger over the years.
Here at Ditta in Wonderland, you’ll find a collection of enchanting stories crafted with love and care. Each story is designed to entertain, educate, and inspire young minds.
My wonderful child, Ditta, has been my greatest inspiration. I started creating storybooks for Ditta, weaving tales that sparked imagination and curiosity. Seeing the joy and learning these stories brought to my child, I decided to share them with a wider audience through this blog.
I also want to share something special about my approach to parenting. I gave zero screen time to my child, Ditta, and instead provided her with lots and lots of books.
You won’t believe it, but at the age of 3, during a two-month holiday from nursery to school, she read more than 20 to 30 books a day. Within a week, she would finish all the books we bought for her. She would often reread the books and sometimes even “read” them on her own, mimicking what she had heard, even though she didn’t know how to read yet.
I later discovered that she had difficulty memorizing things without understanding them. However, once she understood the context or the reason behind something, she could easily recall it. This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of understanding over rote memorization.
For example, we used to tell her our car number is XXXX, but she never memorized it because she didn’t understand what a number was or why it was important. So, one day, I created a story where our car’s name was XXXX, and in the story, the car and my child had conversations. From then on, she remembered our car number and also learned some car rules we need to follow.
I noticed many parents teach their kids the ABCs, so I started teaching my child too. However, she wasn’t interested because she didn’t understand what it was or why we had to repeat it. Every child learns differently—some by seeing, speaking, repeating what they hear, or doing things. It varies for each child. Some have stronger visual skills, while others excel in repetition.
I realized my child, Ditta, learns best by understanding. Without understanding, she doesn’t grasp or try anything. Her understanding skill is greater than her visual, repeating, and practical skills. So, I began to nurture her understanding skill. I bought and created books for her. Now, at age 3, she knows what a cell is and how our world evolved—things I learned at 15!
Seeing how books play a major role in her learning, I started creating more books.
I began posting them on a blog to share with other kids, and in the future, I might sell these products.
I believe that stories are a powerful tool for learning, and through this blog, I aim to make storytelling a delightful and educational experience for all children.
I invite you to explore these stories, share them with your little ones, and join me in this magical journey of learning through tales. Let’s create a world where every child can dream, learn, and grow through the power of stories.
Thank you for reading all my stories on the blog. While this marks the end of sharing my personal journey, it’s just the beginning of my book-writing adventure.
There’s a vast world of knowledge out there, and I’m excited to continue exploring and creating .
Thank you for visiting, and happy reading!
